Galapagos Islands

A unique archipelago located on the equator off the west coast of Ecuador. The remote location right where the Panama-Current from the north and the Humbolt-Current from the south meet, creates a unique ecosystem above and below the ocean surface with many endemic species. This uniqueness led to one of the largest protected areas of the world. Most of the land is not allowed visit and the places that are, have regulations in place in order to preserve this safe heaven for nature.
